I hope this e-mail finds you well.



Work package 5 in the SEA EU Alliance involves among other things the task 5.1: Building bridges to Society - extraterritorial strategy.



Nord University initiated a project in 2024 to strengthen ties between SEA-EU Alliance universities and African universities, by inviting all to participate in a survey mapping current collaboration within the alliance with African Universities .



Next up we are happy to invite everyone at in the alliance either that

1) currently is collaborating with African universities in terms of research and/or education,

2) would be interested in doing so in the future, and

3) African scholars currently working at Nord.



to a digital workshop on November 18th, 2024 : 12:00-15:00 together with other academics and staff within the SEA EU Alliance.

Background for the workshop:

The background for this initiative is the EU-AU Innovation Agenda -characterized by a remarkable connectivity across the entire research & innovation eco-system. And in support of the EU’s global (EU’s Global Gateway ) and the AU’s Agenda2063 and how it can be addressed in practice.



Africa is important for Europe for a number of reasons, including population dynamics, natural resources, agricultural potential, economic growth and market potential, emerging markets, leapfrogging technologies and innovation hubs.



The current geopolitical situation and the geographic proximity between Europe and Africa is also important to take into account.



Collaborative efforts can address shared global challenges, drive economic growth, and foster sustainable development, benefiting both regions.
